SYLHET :: Bangladesh scored 279/8 in 50 overs after captain Mashrafe Mortaza won toss and chose to bat first at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
A century from opener Tamim Iqbal led Bangladesh to set a 280-run target against touring Afghanistan in the third and final of a three-match One Day International (ODI) series in Dhaka on Saturday.
Only 23 runs came in the opening stand where Soumy`s contribution was 11.
From there, opener Tamim Iqbal and middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman showed brilliant batting performance and added 140 runs in the second wicket partnership.
Tamim kept batting and completed his 7th ODI century. The 27-year old left-hand opener smashed a run-a-ball 118 hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes.
However, Mahmudullah added quick 32 runs off 22 balls hitting 4 boundaries which led the Tigers to score a fighting total of 279.
Afghan spinners Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan and pacer Mirwais Ashraf claimed 2 wickets each.
The result of the match will decide the series winner.
Bangladesh made two changes with Shafiul Islam playing instead of pacer Rubel Hossain while Mosharraf Hossain Rubel came in for Taijul Islam.
On the other hand, Afghanistan made one change with Samiullah Shenwari replacing Naveen-ul-Haq.
